Another one bites the dust!

Kennedy pulled another tooth! She is getting good at this and doesn't want me to even come close now when she has a loose tooth! (That might have something to do with the fact that Gram pulled a loose tooth during Christmas Break without telling Kennedy that she was going to do it....hint...hint) :)
It had been loose for a little while and she came home on Weds. telling me she was sad because she couldn't even eat her rice krispy treat at snack time....because it hurt her tooth to try and bite into the treat! Well, I knew then that the tooth was ready to come out. Kennedy LOVES rice krispy treats and if she didn't eat it at snack time....that was a sure sign.
So, we ate supper and went on to church that night. After class was over and we were all sitting in the auditorium...during the time that the invitation was being given...she YANKED it out! She was so excited and started trying to get sweet Mikayla's attention (she sits in front of us at church). It was a fun night and so funny to see how excited that she was about loosing her first top tooth! She had fun the next morning drinking her juice...she said..."Mama, look the straw fits in the spot where I lost my tooth!" Needless to say, she is having lots of fun being a snaggletooth this week!
Hard to believe that all of the kids are just GROWING UP sooooo fast! I can't believe that this little precious will turn 7 yrs. old on Sunday! I know it is inevitable....but I am selfish about my babies!

Potty Training anyone?

Picture 156

How can it be that all my babies are growing up so fast?  This little precious boy is ready to head to the next step....one more step away from being my baby boy!  Yikes!

Parker just came walking into me in the study diaperless and wondering what he should do?  Of course I quickly found the diaper that he had removed on his own and found a little surprise, and then on the potty I found another surprise, and he very quickly got a clean diaper from his Mama.  I couldn't help but chuckle and of course I praised him for wanting to go to the potty....but tried to explain that you only take the diaper off if Mama knows you are doing it.

I guess it is time to start the potty training.  Any suggestions for boys?  It makes me nervous...and I have put it off so long because I guess I just don't want him to grow up yet.  But I know .... it IS time!

Here is the even more funny part of the story from above....all morning the kids have been watching episodes of Jon and Kate plus 8.  Parker had been sitting watching an episode on Kate potty training the kids.....and when I missed him.....guess where I found him?  Who says kids don't pay attention?  He definitely was and he AIN'T no dummy!  :)

We're back! Life will get back to "normal"....right?

So, we finally got back home last night. Our plane landed in B'ham safely and we began the trip home. We had a FABULOUS time! We had such great FAMILY time! We tried not to worry about work, internet, phones, bills, whatever....and just tried to have fun and relax! We had a few obstacles....but what family vacation wouldn't have obstacles?

We are tired, but in a good way! Today, I have several things I could be doing....but I decided that since I have only two days left with the girls for Fall Break....who cares! We need to spend time together! I want to spend time with them....after reading my good friend Telah's blog this morning.....I had a few tears and re-focused a little.

Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. Of course, there is much more to share a little later. Enjoy!

On the airplane....and the kids are just excited to be on the airplane for the first time. They keep asking....how are we going to get to school this morning? This is at about 6:45am....notice it is still dark outside.

Picture 036

The girls just opened their gifts and found out we are going to Disney World. More of that story later...

Picture 038

Had these shirts made for them to wear on the trip down to Disney.

Finally! We have arrived!

Creative Writer

I am still amazed everyday at the things my children are interested in and their talents!  I am so proud of them!  I wanted to let you all read a short little story that Mallory wrote sometime last school year.  I attended a meeting the other morning with one of her teachers and I was given copies of some of her work samples.  I had not remembered seeing or reading these particular pieces before and I started laughing out loud when I read this one.  My sweet little Mallory is a great student and really seems to love school!  She is so helpful and eager to learn new things.  She is an awesome kid!  I love you MalMal!

Sea Lions

by Mallory

I really am fascinated by sea lions because they are big cuddly sea creatures that have personality and look like they would be friendly and fun to play with.

I really want to do some more research to know more about them and their habitats because they are so unusual and different from the dolphins and whales.

I would like to have one for a pet but that just won't work because my Mother would scream her head off.

No schedule today. Picture overload and Goal #5.

Our day has been a lot of things...but on a schedule is not one of those things!  :)

For whatever reason, all three of my children have snotty noses and a slight cough.  Now, I might expect my school age girls to catch a little bug during the beginning of the school year.  Why is it that my 2 year old is the worst one and running fever today?  :)   Poor little man!  I hate it when he feels bad...because when he does sometimes there is no consoling him...no matter what you try to do to help.

So, I scratched trying the new schedule...and just tried to take it one hour at a time.

As for #5...I am working on it and still have a lot to learn.  But as of right now, I am REALLY enjoying a new little toy we got a few days ago.

We finally took the plunge and decided to purchase this little number:

Nikon D60

Of course, whenever I get a free second or two...I start snapping.  I have pretty much been shooting in automatic mode and have a lot to learn about everything with this camera!  However, even with a rookie like me...I think I got some pretty good shots over the last day or so and thought I would share them.  So be prepared to see a ton of pictures of my kiddos!

Stay tuned for the new season premiere of...?

Hey everyone!  I have not fallen off the face of the earth, nor moved to Siberia, not been on vacation, not being lazy (wink, wink), nor have I been living on a remote island somewhere.  There is no reason to call 911....so don't get any ideas Telah!  LOL

I will be back soon and have a written list in my little notebook about three pages long on topics that I want to tell you all about and of things I want to show you.  Problem is....I have been working so hard on crafty things, mothering my children, visiting doctors, tackling massive amounts of laundry, celebrating birthdays, ...oh, and did I mention that I have three young children???  LOL

Anyway, I have been reading or trying to keep up with all my buddies and their happenings.  Hopefully, by Monday I can be back and going full speed ahead in BLOG world.  Sure do miss you all...but thanks for sticking with me and all the sweet comments that y'all are always leaving for me!  You are the best!

More very soon...

Tunes on Tuesday...

No real significant, deep, emotional message this week in the Tune on Tuesday.  This is just a cute song with a funny video that my little sweetie Kennedy LOVES to listen to and sing a long with the music.  The other day she said, "Mama...play the sweet potato song!"  So I did....just a fun song.  Hope you enjoy. (However, I will say that this song seems to hold some serious truths to it....listen and read ladies and see what you think????  LOL)

Mr. Mom by Lonestar
Lost my job, came home mad
Got a hug and kiss and that's too bad
She said I can go to work until you find another job
I thought I like the sound of that
Watch TV and take long naps
Go from a hard working dad to being Mr. Mom
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the fifteenth time
Breakfast six, naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr. Mom
Football, soccer and ballet
Squeeze in Scouts and PTA
And there's that shopping list she left
That's seven pages long
How much smoke can one stove make
The kids won't eat my charcoal cake
It's more than any man can take
Being Mr. Mom
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the sixteenth time
Breakfast six, naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom
Before I fall in bed tonight
If the dog didn't eat the classifieds
I'm gonna look just one more time
'Cause
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the eighteenth time
Breakfast six, naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long
Oh been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr.Mom
Balancin' checkbooks, juggling bills
Thought there was nothing to it
Baby, now I know how you feel
What I don't know is how you do it
Honey, you're my hero!

Have a good day!  More later...

Five on Friday...

First of all,  let me give a shout out to one of my good friends Telah...we were discussing today about trying some new things with our blogs... and I think that I have come up with a plan from some things from what I have seen out there on others blogs.  Telah came up with this Five on Friday...and I love it!  Great idea Telah!!!

So from here on out...I am going to do my best to post Five on Friday.  I am gonna add the linking part of the post at the bottom...for anybody who wants to participate.  I know there are others out there like Thursday Thirteen and Works for Me Wednesday...that you can link to and I think that is so neat.  So, I am going to try it.  Hopefully, if it works you can link up and we can get a good number participating.  If you have any other prompts for posting....share them with us all and let us know about them!  I like the idea of having a structured topic to help guide my thoughts and it gives your readers something to look forward to.

Five Things I That I Use Everyday:

  1. My Laptop: Yes, this is something I use a whole lot during each day!!!  I use it for conversations, entertainment, studying, contacting others, banking, business....just all sorts of things....and it is hard to imagine life without it...honestly!  Let's face it....I use my laptop as much or more than probably anything else I own....and I am glad too...because without it I wouldn't be meeting all of you wonderful people.

  2. Lysol WipesUse these things all the time...for wiping down countertops, bathrooms, door handles, toys, etc....I need to count someday and see how many I use in a day!

  3. The MicrowaveThis is a necessity...especially when you have kids.  I use my microwave soooo much each day.

  4. The Diaper GenieMan, I used this a lot today!  I am so thankful for it too!  Whew...can't imagine having a baby without it!

  5. My DeodorantOh yes, can't go without this on any given day.  Although, I don't think I stink...:)  I just don't feel fully "dressed" without it!

Final Christmas Post #3...

Well, I tried to get it in before the big ball dropped...but just didn't make it!  Oh well, better late then never...so here is the final post of the Christmas celebrations....

  • We left and made it to my grandparents house very late on the 23rd.
  • Spent Sunday, after church, finishing up shopping and wrapping with my grandmother.
  • Put the kids all to bed and stayed up late????
  • Santa came and all was well!!!!  Santa was great to the kids this year...

  • Had a huge breakfast with all the family and it was yummo as usual
  • Started tearing open gifts...which always takes awhile...our tradition is we go around and everyone opens one, then the next, then the next...you get the point

Kennedy....I can hardly ever get her to smile for a picture.

Cool gift Mallory...just what you wanted, only purple not pink.

My brother Chad

Parker liked chewing on the red tissue paper!

Here Jordan is trying to keep Parker from chewing up the red tissue paper.

Even Parker got on in the gift opening some!

And I saved the best for last....Pap opening a gift...

This must have been a good one!  LOL....I think it was a gift from Jordan...but can't be 100% sure on that....however, once he opened it up....they guys decided to have some fun with it!   Pap obviously was either surprised or thrilled at what was in the bag!!!  Keep reading to find out!

Sorry for the bad shot....but maybe if you look really close you can see the words?????  What?  A   F_____ (I have heard it called fluff, poot, a rip....I think it has many names....but the one on the package....well????)  Machine????  Just what he needed right....lol

Now I must warn you,  that as soon as this came out of the gift bag, four men went to work on getting it set up to use!  They were all having a fun time with it and found it very entertaining...I guess....you will have to judge for yourself from the video below.....

This video is rated PG!#....:)  I was just the one holding the camera....I am not responsible for what you see or hear in the video.....but these guys were too funny not to take some video of them.  Pap, Tim, Chad and Jordan.....well, you just watch for yourself and come up with your own opinion!

Ok Patty....there is the only video clip I got from Christmas morning....sorry....but it was too funny!  Now for those of you who do not know my family....this will give you a good idea of how crazy they all are...but I still love em' so much!!!!!

We had a great Christmas together!  Dad, Patty, and Britt....we missed you guys!

This is the last of the Christmas posts....whew...you are probably as glad as I am!  On to 2007 posts......I hope to put up a post of the most memorable for my family next.....I have been working on it....we will see what happens tonight and if I can get it up here.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my blog visitors!

More later....

Celebration and Post #2...and more to come! :)

By this time it is Tuesday night, of the week that precedes Christmas, and school is basically over till next year (2007)...Mallory had to go Wednesday, but just for half a day...so no biggie!

Anyhow, we got the call on Tuesday that Shane's mama had been put in the local hospital with pneumonia!  That's not good!  We were of course concerned about Nannie (aka Shane's mama) and wanted to check on her...but at the same time, didn't want to expose the kids to the hospital because of all the sickness that we had been hearing about and witnessing around here. Soooo....Shane kept watch on that situation and we kept checking on her by phone....and Shane went to visit by himself at the hospital, when he went.

By Thursday, it was catching up with me and...

  •  I still had a little shopping to do,
  • we were supposed to be having Christmas with family here in Athens on Friday (but still weren't sure about that) because of Nannie being in the hospital,
  • and then supposed to leave early on Saturday morning to travel to Indiana to be with my side of the family for a few days to celebrate....
  • YEAH RIGHT!!!  GO AHEAD....START LAUGHING NOW!!!!  :)  (it gets better)

So on Thursday morning...I know that Parker officially needs to go to the doctor, because I think he has ANOTHER ear infection...if so, this will make our fifth! (I think in like two months!!!)  So I call, get him an appt. and away we go...in the meantime...Shane is coming home early and that helps because when I get home...I needed the help!!  LOL

The doctor checked my little man out and decided that he DEFINITELY had infection in his ears again...which translates to more antibiotics and in our case a trip to our ENT next week...which means tubes...most likely!!!!  Plus, here is the conversation:

Doc: (listening to breathing)  Have you noticed that he is wheezing?

Me:  Uhhh...maybe a little, but I have noticed that he has a bad cough.

Doc: (still listening to Parker breathing) Well it doesn't sound like a pneumonia...sounds like RSV.  He could have gotten it anywhere, a lot of us have it but our bodies fight it better.  He is ok...but we are going to start treating him for RSV with medication and you need to consider him contagious.

Me:  Ok...so probably doesn't need to be exposed to other babies and definitely doesn't need to be around his Nannie? (I explained the situation) and go ahead and get our appt. with the ENT now?

Doc:  Right....but he will be alright...don't worry....

Me: Ok...thank you!

Now by this time, I am thinking if I can just get out the door and get home...then I can DEAL!

I will take all this in and figure out a game plan!  Oh, how silly I am!!!!

So we went home, stayed home and in the house, Shane came home, I went out and tackled the last of the shopping on Thursday night and Friday!  Thank you Shane!  I couldn't do it without you!  You're a rock!!!

Now, we are supposed to go to Uncle Butch's and Aunt Vickie's on Friday night and Nannie is still in the hospital, but we are going to have a meal together still and decide that we will celebrate after the New Year together later....(See Nannie had already planned to have us all over to a good home cooked meal on Friday night....but her plans changed! )

And that is ok...presents will wait and food will wait....we just want her to feel better!

So we did go to Friday night to eat and spend time together and we had a good time as usual!  Good food, great company, good laughs!  Here are just a few pix from that night...

Uncle Butch and Aunt Vickie got the girls gift certificates to the local movie cinema!  Great Idea!  The loved it!  I think we will use it to try to see Charlotte's Web.

Parker's gift...this think is hilarious...and funny to see Parker respond to it!

Always fun...Good times!!!

And of course I saved the BEST for last!!!!  Finally found a hat that fit! The story on that is that Shane and my kids all have trouble with hats and shirts fitting over the head.....so I couldn't help but laugh when I saw him put this thing on his head!!!  The ring leader...putting on a show for us!

This seat, Bumbo, is awesome!  Wish I had bought one sooner because I know Parker won't be in it long....but it is as good as all the reviews I read!!!

Next stop....and Christmas Happenings Post #3....Indiana....stick with me!   :)

The Husband Store...

Ok ladies...a friend of mine emailed me this and I just had to share.  You may have read it before...I never had and I just about fell out of my chair laughing!  Enjoy!

The Husband Store
A store that sells husbands has just opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband.   Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates.
"You may visit the store ONLY ONCE!
You may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up a floor,
But you cannot go back down except to exit the Building!"
So, a woman goes to The Husband Store to find a husband .
On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1
- These men have jobs and love the Lord.
The second floor sign reads:

Floor 2
- These men have jobs, love the Lord, and love kids.
The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3
- These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, and are extremely good looking.
"Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and sign reads:

Floor 4
- These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead good looking and help with the housework.
"Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!"
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and sign reads:

Floor 5
- These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop- dead gorgeous, help with the  housework, and have a strong romantic streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 6
- You are visitor 4,363,012 to this floor.
There are no men on this floor.
This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.

Thank you for shopping at The Husband Store.

Watch your step as you exit the building, and have a nice day!

Please send this to all men for a good laugh and to all the women who can handle the truth!

The wife says: I don't want to talk about it.
The wife means: I'm still building up steam.

Are you as fed up as I am?

Although it has been happening for a long time...it just struck me this morning for some strange reason that I am sick to death of telemarketers calling my home.  I am tired of seeing unknown caller, out of area, or whatever else it is that I see listed on the caller ID about one hundred times a day.  Obviously, my attempt to be on the no call list did not work.  I did try though....so I found this list this morning and laughed so hard about it....and I just may try some of these in the near future.  It might be fun for them to get a taste of their own medicine!

Ways to Terrorize a Telemarketer

  1. Tell them to talk VERY SLOWLY, because you want to write EVERY WORD down.
  2. Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a joke. "Come on Leon, cut it out! Seriously, Leon, how's your momma?"
  3. Tell the telemarketer you are busy at the moment and ask them if they will give you their HOME phone number so you can call them back. When the telemarketer explains that they cannot give out their HOME number, you say "I guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home, right?" The telemarketer will agree and you say, "Now you know how I feel!"
  4. After the telemarketer gives their spiel, ask him/her to marry you. When they get all flustered, tell them that you could not just give your credit card number to a complete stranger.
  5. Tell the telemarketer you are on "home incarceration" and ask if they could bring you a case of coke and a pizza.
  6. If they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.
  7. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up for the Family and Friends plan, reply, in as SINISTER a voice as you can, "I don't have any friends... would you be my friend?"
  8. Cry out in surprise, "Judy! Is that you?  Judy, how have you been?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of pause as she tries to figure out where in the world she could know you from.
  9. If they say they're John Doe from XYZ Company, ask them to spell their name. Then ask them to spell the company name. Then ask them where it is located. Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as long as necessary.
  10. When they ask "How are you today?" Tell them! "I'm so glad you asked because no one these days seems to care, and I have all these problems; my arthritis is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..."

If you are sick of them too...try a few of these and let us know how they worked.  I am sure we would all get a good laugh from reading your stories about them.  Have a good day and enjoy!

My thoughts and musings...

Good morning!  Let's see....has it been?  Yes, the sun is shining, I am blessed beyond measure, and I am alive and well.  It has been a busy morning around this house already and  it is only 9am.  Already, the garage door has been fixed, the cable company is on their way to see what the problem has been with our connection (and of course the internet and cable are running fine this morning), made several phone calls, cleaned up the kitchen and working on laundry....but now it is time for my time.  I do this almost every morning....at least I try to...sit down with my breakfast and a glass of tea  and read my email and look at some websites....

Today is also Ten on Tuesday....and you will find that at the bottom of this post.  I want you all to know that I am really enjoying writing to this website because it makes me think about things that I normally wouldn't think about and it makes me search my memory to record things that maybe I might not have written down without having a place to do so....all that I write for you to read is saved and I will look back at it and someday my children will probably look back at it and wonder, laugh, cry....who knows???  I was thinking about this last night when I was reading some emails....why do I write and record things?  why do I attempt to scrapbook?   Well, for my children...

Because I want them to understand how important family is and how lost you would be without people who love you. Because I want them to value friendships and relationships and treasure the moments that they share with their dear friends.  Because I want to teach them that every moment in time is significant and meaningful and not to let time pass you by too quickly....take advantage of every moment that you are given.  Because I want them to understand how much I love them and how special they are.  Because I want them to know where they come from and how they became who they are.  Because I want them to understand and love traditions and to carry them on with their children....oh there are so many reasons why I scrapbook and try to do things that will leave something for my children to look back at in later years...I just hope that someday it will all be meaningful to them too!

Now to switch gears a little....here is a little fun list for you today.

Top Ten Things That Adults Learn From Kids:

  1. There is no such thing as child-proofing your house.
  2. A 3 years-old's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.
  3. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh;" it's already too late.
  4. Play-Doh and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.
  5. Super glue is forever.
  6. No matter how much Jello you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.
  7. You probably do not want to know what that odor is.
  8. Always look in the oven before you turn it on.
  9. Quiet does not necessarily mean don't worry.
  10. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earth worms dizzy. It will however make cats dizzy.

I got these from a website that I found the other day and I laughed till it hurt....mainly because I know my day is coming....and I will experience some of these.  There were lots of good, humorous things I found....I may do a few more in the next few days if you all like these.  Enjoy and have a good day!  :)
